Britain’s youngest female murderer who stabbed a stranger to death when she was just 12 years old will remain behind bars after being denied parole.

Sharon Carr knifed Katie Rackliff 32 times in an unprovoked attack as the 18-year-old walked home from a night out in Camberley, Surrey in 1992.

The hairdresser’s murder went unsolved for five years as officers hunted an adult man.

She was arrested after Carr attacked another girl with a knife in the town and then boasted, while in a young offender institute, about killing Katie.

The Parole Board has decided Carr, now in her 40s, is still too dangerous to be released or moved to an open jail.

A spokesman said: “Decisions solely focus on what risk a prisoner could represent if released and whether that risk is manageable in the community.”
