A traffic stop nearly turned deadly after Madison police station detectives were fired Tuesday around 1 p.m.
Detectives were attempting to traffic stop the vehicle as part of a narcotics investigation on Dickerson Pike when the vehicle fled before crashing and being disabled.
Demond Buchanan, 45, was in the driver’s seat when he began firing at police, discharging a full magazine, according to a MNPD statement.
Police say no one was hurt during the shooting.
Buchanan, wanted on 13 outstanding warrants, was taken into custody. Three warrants for aggravated assault are anticipated, in addition to drug-related charges.
