A critical mother-in-law’s dirty secret was exposed after she kept commenting on her new granddaughter’s “unusual” appearance.
A new mom took to Reddit to reveal that her mother-in-law began to suspect that she was cheating on her husband after their son was born with green eyes, a characteristic that no one else in their shared family had.
He made so many comments about it that the new mom decided to submit her husband and newborn to a DNA test to clear her name.
But when she did, she found out her mother-in-law’s 29-year-old secret.
Mirror reported that the new mom said on Reddit: “I gave birth to my daughter two months ago and even though my husband told me he knew I would never cheat on him, he wanted to give our daughter a paternity test.

“The reason: she has green eyes. My husband and I don’t have green eyes, neither do my parents and neither do my in-laws, no one in my family does.”
“My husband said it was probably something genetic weird, but he wanted the test for peace of mind.
“He kept refusing because he trusts me, but his mom keeps commenting on his eyes, as does the rest of his family, who keep commenting on me cheating on them.
“Even my family finds it strange that my daughter has green eyes.”
After her husband finally agreed to the paternity test, the results came back saying that he was the father of her daughter.
But the young mother added: “Our daughter is yours, but my father-in-law is not my husband’s father.
“My in-laws have been married for decades, so the idea that my mother-in-law cheated on my father-in-law never crossed our minds.
“My husband wants to confront his mother, but I tell him to wait. Yes, she is a liar and a hypocrite, but we need to think about this.”
“I agree my father-in-law should know, but we’re both tired of caring for a newborn, we made a shocking discovery, and we weren’t thinking rationally.
“He wants to tell his father and so do I, but the consequences will be apocalyptic.
“I just wanted to give him peace of mind and instead started the end of his parents’ marriage and possibly blew up his family.”
Commenting on her post, one user said: “What bothers me is the fact that she pressured you and your son to do the only thing that would expose her secret.
“All I had to do was keep quiet and no one would have been the wiser.”
The Mirror reports another user as saying: “Next time your mother-in-law talks about green eyes, just look her in the eye and say ‘Oh I know how they got green eyes… there are ways to find these things.'” outside’.”
