Police divers have begun searching the port of Barcelona for the missing ex-rugby player and Celebrity X Factor Levi Davis star.

Searches were also underway in the Llobregat delta, part of a river that lies southwest of Barcelona.

A tweet from the Mossos d’Esquadra regional police said: “We continue to investigate the disappearance of a man in Barcelona on October 29.

“We have activated the maritime police and the aquatic unit to search the port of Barcelona and the Llobregat delta. The case is still open.”

Davis appeared on ITV’s Celebrity X Factor in 2019, along with fellow rugby stars Ben Foden and Thom Evans, in a singing group known as Try Star.

He was also on E4’s Celebs Go Dating in 2020.

Mr. Davis had signed a record deal and had gone to live with his friend Richard Squire in Ibiza to work on some songs.

Talking with him BBC in March, Squire said that he had dropped Davis off in Ibiza Town on October 28 and had not seen him since.

He said that Mr. Davis had told him he was going to Barcelona.

Davis told Squire that he would call when he got to Barcelona, ​​but he never did.

Last month, Julie Davis, the Bath Rugby player’s mother, said in a statement that police have told his family they believe a man seen in the ocean by a cruise ship crew is likely to be Mr Davis.

Four members of the crew, who were docking in Barcelona on the morning of October 30, a day after the singer’s disappearance, reported seeing a man.

They reportedly said the man was wearing the same light-colored blouse as Mr. Davis.

The crew said they heard the man yell for help several times in English. A lifebuoy was thrown to him, but the search by the police and the coast guard was in vain.

In a statement in April, police said her mother, Julie Davis, and her friend Richard Squire met with local police Monday to get an update on the investigation into her disappearance.

The statement said: “Extensive work has been done to track Levi’s movements on the night of October 29 and they can confirm that after his last sighting at the Hard Rock Cafe, Levi walked back down La Rambla and entered the commercial port. .

“Your phone was last searched in the early hours of Saturday October 30 at a phone tower at the far end of the port closest to the entrance to the sea.”

The statement added how reports of a cruise ship entering the port at 6:30 am on October 30.

The family confirmed: “Four staff members confirmed seeing a man in the water with specific details, including him asking for help in English and the color of his clothing.

“A life jacket was thrown from the ship and emergency air and sea rescue services searched the area but were unable to find it.”
