The 25-year-old popular content creator, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, was the target of a revenge plot by YouTube star Airrack for a prank played on him more than a year ago.

Airrack enlisted deputies from Pitt County, North Carolina, MrBeast’s home state, to stage the fake arrest and lock the star in a holding cell.

The video garnered 3.2 million views in less than 24 hours, but critics claimed it was a misuse of police resources. The Pitt County deputies involved in the video are understood to have been off duty at the time and worked overtime for the stunt, while Airrack paid the sheriff’s office for their help.

Airrack also reveals in the ten-minute video that he initially signed a contract with the New York City Police Department for the prank, but relocated to North Carolina when the original plan fell through.

The officers stopped MrBeast in his Tesla and then told him he went for the tinted windows of the car. They then pretended to check his license which revealed an arrest warrant for him for “communicating threats.”

MrBeast can be seen getting out of the vehicle and then being handcuffed by the officers.

Initially, he seemed amused and was cooperative when an officer helped him into the back of his car and asked if anyone had threatened him lately. The YouTuber later refused to speak.

Subsequently, he was placed in a holding cell, denied food or water, and made to wait for a long period.

MrBeast was then told that he could make his one phone call. However, the police officers dialed the Airrack number.

He then revealed to MrBeast that the arrest had in fact been a prank.

“I have someone here who told me they need to talk to you,” the policeman can be heard saying over the phone. He then handed over the phone to MrBeast for the big reveal.

Airrack said, ‘Hey, do you need anything?’ MrBeast replied that he needed his lawyer.

Airrack replied: ‘James said he’s talking to Alan [MrBeast’s lawyer] right now.’

He then said that he had a message from his ‘Alan’ and told MrBeast to look at the police officer’s body cam.

“Alan says look at the police officer’s body camera and say ‘I just got ‘Get Got,'” Airrack said. MrBeast later admitted in the clip that he thought the prank was real.

‘I was like, this could be a joke. I was like, this is a lot of resources for a joke. When I got there, I was like, okay, wait. Maybe this isn’t a joke, she said.

A viewer responded to the video to ask why the police can be hired to get involved in pranks. Referring to the apparent NYPD involvement deal, they said, “How crazy NYPD cops have time to film YouTube videos instead of stopping murders.”

Another added: ‘Good! Taxpayer money put to work!’

It is understood that the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the stunt as “work for hire” and the department was paid by Airrack. The deputies involved were off duty at the time and their participation was treated as overtime.

He approached the sheriff’s office for comment. She has contacted the NYPD for comment.
