A woman took to social media to share her embarrassment after unexpected guests arrived at her house on a day when the house was not in a very good condition. A mother of two started a parenting discussion on the social media forum. momsnet after he couldn’t sleep thinking about the incident.
She posted: “We had a really sloppy day yesterday. It was mid-afternoon and we were all in our pajamas.
“There were leftovers from lunch in several places (thanks to my two and four year olds), crumbs all over the floor, and loads of laundry everywhere.
“This is quite unusual for me, I’m usually on top of everything, but it’s been a tiring week and my husband hasn’t been well, so I’ve been managing on my own a lot.”
She went on to say that she was caught off guard after her friends, whom they hadn’t seen in a while, made a surprise visit to the house.
She said: “Then there is a knock at the door; friends we hadn’t seen in a long time who had just passed by. Taken by surprise, I enthusiastically welcomed them.
“It’s 4 in the morning and I can’t sleep because I’m so embarrassed about the state the house was in.
“I feel like I never want to see them again!
Not sure why I’m posting this, maybe someone can make me feel better? Gah!”

One user wrote: “Oh no, that’s horrible. I would have said we’re not good, sorry I can’t invite you. I don’t think it’s very nice to visit people.
“It happened to me years ago at Christmas. Ds2 was a newborn. Good for making acquaintances he showed up with a silly present for us. House was tipped and I was knackered. I have never forgiven them.
“I don’t see them anyway, thank God.”
Another wrote: “That sounds like a typical Saturday to me! In this day of technology, they should have called or texted you first.
“I think it’s rude to show up unannounced. I’m sure they didn’t notice/care anyway and were happy to see you.”
